The Beauty of Mirrors: High Class Décor for Little Cash

Ah, the magic of mirrors. Instead of knocking out walls and spending a small fortune on renovation you can transform a room into a sparkling, vibrant, optical illusion just by adding a mirror. For instance, place a mirror adjacent to a window and you have the illusion of another window. Put floor-to-ceiling mirror at the end of a room and you immediately widen the wall. The room will look and feel larger. Mirrors in general will double the size of small locations.
You can reflect light from a window by putting mirrors at an angle to the window. Place mirrors behind a sofa, place candle holders in front, and double the view of flickering candlelight. The same thing happens if you place candles on a mirrored coffee table or a mirrored tray. Mirrors double any view.
A small entry can make for a grand entrance. Using mirror squares, mirror the walls, ceiling, everything except the floor. This is most effective if you have a hanging lamp like a chandelier set right in the middle of the ceiling. Bingo...crystal palace.
You can place mirror squares or a hanging mirror on the wall behind potted plants and give yourself a jungle.
If you've got a fireplace put a framed mirror above the mantel. Reflections from the fire will echo in the mirror.
Want to transform reality? Mirror your furniture or your bed frame and float in space.
Keep bits and pieces of mirrors that you find. You can glue mirror pieces in a mosaic design on almost anything. You can sew bits of mirror onto fabric and make pillows, shawls; skirts or add a few strategically placed mirror bits to jeans. Another trick with mirror-bits is to place them on door panels, corners of moldings; on trims and frames. The little pieces of mirror catch the eye at random times and twinkle like mischievous sprites.
Have fun!
