Vegetables

At least 200 studies around the world show that a plant-rich diet lowers the risk for many kinds of tumors while a diet high in grains and vegetables cuts the risk of colon cancer by 40%. This was established by 1995. The vegetables that rated highest in effectiveness include bok choy, broccoli, brussels sprouts, cabbage, cauliflower, collard greens, kale, kohlrabi, mustard greens, rutabaga and turnips.
Scientists at the University of Illinois are studying phytochemicals and other components of these foods, which seem to interfere with the cancer process — either slowing, stopping or reversing it.
There is a vast amount of on-going research on the value of vegetables in fighting cancer and there is a wealth of information available on the Web. Try entering "vegetables and cancer" into any search engine and see what you get.
Good health to you, Sakara (I have a sudden urge for vege' stew.)
