End of Dreams

Darkness fades as light invades
This protective cover of night.
I sit here alone, my heart like a stone
As I wait for Dawn's coming Light,
Whiling away my last few moments,
Savoring your taste on my lips
As I feel Apollo's kiss upon my face
While I should withdraw to a darker place.
From the grace of God I've fled,
To the land of the hungry dead,
A cloud provides some brief respite
To this, the end of my eternal Night.
Is this how my end goes?
Like the wilted petals of a withered rose?
Fading like the evening's kiss
Or passing like the morning's mist?
Is this the way existence ends?
   Without your love...

Burning Away
