Anonymous asked this question on 4/18/2000: Hi I am currently in talks with a foreign producer for a film to be made based on a story i have written with a co-writer..do you see it going well? And, I am in a dispute with 2 former friends on a story i had also written primarily by myself..and they are trying to cheat me..will I be protected from them?
Sakara gave this response on 4/18/2000: Dear Anonymous, First, if you have not already done so, register your work with WGA, the Writer's Guild of America. There is a nominal fee and this will help protect your copyright from both the producer and the two former friends. Now lets see what the cards have to say. The following cards appear for you:
Your first card is the Six of Swords. The Six speaks of success earned by hard work, of difficulties overcome and an improved situation.
It is also a card of travel, especially over water. This is a very good sign regarding the foreign producer. This card states your sale will be successful. It also states you will travel abroad, a fact most likely once the deal is done.
Your second card is the Seven of Swords. This is a card of uncertainty, of a tendency to fail by giving up too soon. Be firm in what you want and be firm regarding your rights. Stand your ground in both situations and do not give up. Nor can you let yourself be intimidated or manipulated by either factions.
Your first card decreed success, your second card told you how you could fail. Your third card is the Six of Pentacles, the Pentacles are also known as the suit of Coins, the suit of money. This is the card of the benefactor, of prosperity and generosity. This card applies to the producer and shows him favoring a generous fee for your work.
In conclusion the cards today guarantee a successful sale of your story but they warn you that tenacity is required. If you do not bow down to the forces and pressures from these two literary camps, you will win. In both directions you will win. Tell your former friends you are prepared to fight all the way to court. You will most likely never have to see a court, but as the cards have shown you must steel yourself for battle and do not give an inch.
Success to you,
Sakara
