Invoking Kali

A one word mantra for the power aspect of Kali is "krim", or one may worship her merely by the repetition of the name Kali. A short mantra to worship her as the infinite Divine Mother of all is "Om Kali Ma". "Hüm" is her mantra to ward off negativity and to draw the attention within.

Kali is located in the spiritual heart center, on the right side of the chest. She is the life-force of the body. Assume a comfortable meditation position, sitting or laying on your back in the corpse pose. Still your thoughts and go deep within to your spiritual heart center. Experience the vibration of the life-force within you and stay with it as long as possible. An enlightened devotee of Kali is always aware of the pulsation of the life-force within.

Meditation on death is another way of contacting the energy of Kali. See the impermanence of all things. Kali is the life that exists in death and the death that exists in life.

Breath is life, the visible life-force. Concentrate on your breathing to increase both awareness and longevity. Kali is pure beingness, beyond time and beyond death.
